What is Reiki?

Updated: Mar 21

If you've been seeing Reiki mentioned online, by friends or even just on my website/social media pages but aren't sure what it is, this post is for you!

Reiki is an energy healing modality that works on a person's energy field such as their aura and chakras. It can be incredibly helpful for relieving mental disorders such as stress, anxiety, ADHD, depression and some pain disorders. Reiki can also help one prepare for future events or heal/release energy leftover from past traumas that are still affecting them.

Through gentle touch and hand placement, a Reiki practitioner transfers the Reiki energy to the client. There are now several Reiki methods available for practitioners to choose from regarding training including Usui and Holy Fire (which I happen to be trained in and offer). I have done Reiki 1 and 2 trainings in 2020 and 2023. I will be attending my Reiki master training in April 2024.

There are no contraindications to reiki and it can cause no harm. The energy simply goes where it is needed most and helps rebalance energy throughout the body. Clients report enhanced sleep after sessions as well as a feeling of grounded contentment that lasts beyond the session.

Once Reiki is a part of your life, whether by receiving a session or becoming a practitioner, it is always there for you to tap into and use. The intention behind Reiki is deeply important and can be used to charge food, water, surroundings, etc.

As a Reiki practitioner, I have been trained and attuned to channel the energy of reiki and share it with people, plants, and animals often. As many do, I found Reiki when I was on a healing journey and it transformed how I approach my own anxieties and mental roadblocks. It has brought a sense of comfort and connection to my life.

Reiki is like the energy of a best friend you can tap into anytime, anywhere. Adding Reiki to a regular meditation practice can also have astounding effects and lead to deeper feelings of connection, gratitude, and contentment.

Reiki translates to:

Rei = Universal

Ki = Life force energy

If you're looking for a new spiritual tool, I highly encourage you to receive a Reiki session and see what you think for yourself!
